What’s an Ambulatory Surgery Center, and How Does it Affect Your Medical Bills

Adria explains what an ASC is on your medical bills. If the provider or billing company wants you to pay these bills, this is what you can do about it.

I often see cases where doctor needs to perform services, but they don’t have access to a hospital. So they use an outside operating facility. These facilities are referred as Ambulatory Surgery centers and you’ll often see a c s. So all too often I see situations where people are charged. Well over 20,000 for using one of these Ambulatory Service Center facilities. Keep your eyes open.

If the provider or billing company makes you responsible to pay those bills a lot of times that happens and too often the provider doesn’t discuss this before someone goes in for surgery. And then you’re done with the surgery you go home and you receive these crazy bills because the procedures were performed outside of the hospital.

Believe it or not, so often these Ambulatory Service Centers charge more money than a hospital. So try and keep that in mind. In fact, I even recommend you ask before they do the procedure. How much am I going to be charged? To make sure that they’re really not over billing you.  If you need help, please call me Adria gross, Medwise Insurance Advocacy.Thank you.
